POISON FREE SOLUTIONS

Rat poison poses a threat to all animals, not just rats. When a hawk, owl or eagle eats a poisoned rat, it too, can become very ill or perish of secondary poisoning. Rat poison can also poison your dog or cat if accidentally ingested.

Killing the birds only helps the rats!

Alternative Options to Rat Poison

  • Electronic traps (only in safe locations) like the Raticator and other rat “zapper.”

  • A24 trap by Automatic Trap.

Ways to Secure Your Home

  • Rats can enter your home through an opening the size of a dime. Seal all holes in roofs, walls, foundation, crawl spaces and sheds. Seal openings around pipes, cables and electrical wires that enter walls and foundations.

  • Use wire mesh or hardware cloth under porches. Provide tight-fitting covers on crawl space entrances.

  • Make sure trash is sealed and organized. Don’t let trash accumulate.

  • Consider using a non-toxic fertility control product like Contrapest to decrease rat numbers.
